Don Bosco College, SIGHT Wayanad, BREADS Bangalore, Pep Talk Online Counselling, and other benefactors organized 'Santa Eve 2K24', where the attendees had an evening filled with joy, laughter, music, carol singing, and dance performances. Santa Claus distributed gifts to the children, and the various organizations gave away food packets and other essential supplies.
Father Antony Thekkedath, Rector and Manager of Don Bosco College, welcomed the gathering, thanked the organizations involved, and emphasized the importance of community support during times of crisis. Father Jose Koyickal, Provincial of Don Bosco Institutions, Kerala Karnataka, spoke of the resilience of the human spirit and the need for unity as the community rebuilds itself from the tragedy. He also expressed gratitude to all those contributing to the recovery efforts.
Father Jenson, SDB, coordinator of SIGHT Wayanad, said, "We got them to the venue in a bus and dropped them back in the evening. As we have been working with them since the tragedy, our volunteers have spent time listening and talking to them." He said that while help came through various voluntary organizations, the survivors wanted to discuss their fears and worries. "We have ensured that volunteers spent real-time with them as psychological support. We had also organized Onam celebrations for them," he added. Father Dr Shajan Noronha, SDB, Principal, thanked all involved.
