The opening took place on the eve of the feast of the Immaculate Conception, a feast in the Memoirs of the Oratory that Don Bosco indicates as the date of birth of the first Oratory, with the meeting with Bartholomew Garelli on 8 December 1841.
The event was opened by Fr Michele Viviano, Rector of the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians, who emphasised the special nature of this edition, since for the first time the exhibition has been moved. This change was due to the ongoing restoration work on the bell towers of the Basilica: the spaces used until the 24th edition were no longer accessible due to the work. The Casa Don Bosco Museum welcomed the exhibition by launching a call for crib artists over the past few months, and subsequently the participants were selected by a special committee.
Afterwards, Dr Ana Martín García, General Coordinator of the Casa Don Bosco Museum, carried out the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by the blessing of the cribs by Fr Michael Pace, the Museum's Visits Coordinator.
The ceremony ended with the presentation of certificates of participation to the nativity scenes by the organisers, Fr Viviano and Dr Martín García. The event closed with a moment of fraternity and conviviality for all those present.
This 25th edition exhibited more than thirty cribs, the work of Abramo Telesa, Adriano Gatto, Antonio Aiello, Aldo Antonino, Ennio Cobelli, Enzo Migliara, Gennaro Bottone, Gian Mario Regge, Giuseppe Galasso, Lorenzo Genovese, Luca Messina, Margherita Tosco, Michele Albertino, Paolo Scalambro, Pietro Liberatore, Roberto Niglio and Santa Pirrone.
