Earlier, on Monday 25 November, Fr Romero had presented his conclusions and observations to the BCG Provincial, Fr Ricardo Carlos, and to the members of the Provincial Council, on the religious, social and pastoral reality he had found in the various works of the Province.
The last Salesian work he visited was the São Gonçalo Institute in Cuiabá, from 16 to 19 November. Welcomed by the Rector, Fr Hermengildo Conceição, Fr Romero began talks with his Salesian confreres in the community; and in the evening, at the invitation of the parish priest, Fr Idenílson Lemes da Conceição, he met the lay members of the Parish Pastoral Council at the São Gonçalo parish in the Porto district.
On Sunday 24, the Regional Councillor celebrated Mass in the local Shrine of Mary Help of Christians and spoke with young people and lay people engaged in the community. On Monday and Tuesday he visited students, teachers and collaborators of the São Gonçalo Institute, with a special meeting reserved for high school students in the theatre.
After completing the visit to the São Gonçalo community, Fr Romero accompanied the Provincial, Fr Ricardo Carlos, to Brasilia to participate in the general assembly of the Conference of Salesian Provinces of Brazil (CISBRASIL) and the Salesian Network of Brazil (RSB).
The conclusions of the Extraordinary Visitation were presented by the Regional Councillor during the Provincial Assembly on the morning of Wednesday 27 November. "It was a short visit, but enough to know the reality, the Salesian confreres and the variety of the works. One thing that is striking about this Province is its missionary origins, born to work with indigenous communities. Over time, Salesian creativity, which works well all over the world, has led to the birth of other works: schools, social centres, universities, parishes, chapels and shrines. Today the Province is very diverse and spread over a vast territory that covers three states,"Fr Romero said.
Today, Thursday 28 November 2024, after the celebration of the Eucharist at the close of the Provincial Feast day, Fr Romero will travel back to Rome to present the report to the General Council.
