Over the course of three days the Congress offered a space for reflection and learning about the challenges and opportunities that the digital age presents for education and evangelisation. As part of the event, the participants were welcomed by Fr José Pastor Ramírez, ANT Provincial, who gave a warm welcome message to participants. Fr Hugo Orozco, Regional Councillor for Interamerica, who encouraged the participants, and Sister Cesarina Batista, Provincial of the FMA in the Antilles, who stressed the importance of integrating Salesian values into new media, spoke after him.
The Congress programme included six presentations by prominent speakers: Wilson Mateo opened the event on Friday, while on Saturday the participants listened to presentations by Treisi Colome, Josefina Pimentel and Jennifer Arias. The Congress ended on Sunday with presentations by Brenda Tavares and Fr Ricardo Campoli, Salesian Social Communication Coordinator for America, who in addition to participating as a speaker, presided over the closing Eucharist, offering a ceremony full of inspiration and ideas for reflection.
The presence of Fr Campoli, representing the General Councillor for Social Communication, Fr Gildasio Mendes, provided an international perspective on communication in the Church and the role of the Salesian Family in digital evangelisation. Fr Campoli stressed the need to take advantage of emerging technologies to effectively reach the new generations and strengthen Salesian identity and mission in the digital sphere.
This 4th Salesian Edu-communication Congress ended with the participants declaring their commitment to continue forming and evangelising in digital environments with creativity, responsibility and hope. All those present expressed their enthusiasm for the knowledge acquired and their commitment to implement innovative strategies in their respective areas of work.
