Portugal – "Missão Dom Bosco" launches the Lebanon Emergency solidarity campaign

15 October 2024

(ANS – Lisbon) – “Missão Don Bosco”, the Solidarity Fund of the St Anthony Salesian Province Portugal, recently launched a solidarity campaign aimed at supporting the victims of the conflict in Lebanon, which is currently causing a serious humanitarian crisis.

The campaign aims to raise €64,929.60 to provide immediate assistance to 100 internally displaced people, including 48 children who have taken refuge in the Salesian house in El Hossoun.

The Salesian house in El Hossoun is currently a safe haven for these Shiite Muslim families, so the campaign focuses on providing immediate assistance to the basic needs of these people, who have lost everything and now need urgent help to survive.

The money raised will be used to provide essential services such as shelter, food, medical care and psycho-social support. An emergency team is also planned to ensure the safety and protection of the displaced in the centre of El Hossoun.

A scenario of great suffering

Lebanon today is facing the worst war since 2006, with devastating consequences for the civilian population. More than a million people have been displaced within the country and do not have access to basic necessities. Every donation can therefore make a difference, offering a second chance to these people left with nothing. In addition to ensuring their immediate survival, the support will promote resilience and hope in a context of great suffering.

More information on how to support this project is available on the Salesians of Portugal website.
