11 July 2024

(ANS – Cape Town) – The Salesian Institute for Youth Projects (SIYP) is excited to invite the community of Cape Town to participate in the long-awaited “Mandela Day” event, which will take place on 18 July. This is an important event that aims to honour the extraordinary legacy of Nelson Mandela and to propose a positive change in the lives of the most vulnerable young people.

The day will be enriched by the presence of Jenny Morris, a famous chef and radio speaker known throughout South Africa. Together with the SIYP team, she will prepare soups and sandwiches for the occasion, to guarantee children in need a tasty and nutritious meal.

The entire community of Cape Town is called upon to join the chef in preparing the meals, but also in donating the necessities for cooking. Not only that. Citizens are invited to donate items of primary importance such as cornmeal, rice, oil, sugar, jams, margarine, but also clothing, blankets, shoes and stationery for school.

This important event, which will be held at the Salesian Institute from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will also feature prestigious sponsors such as "Coca Cola", "Blue Ribbon" and the local radio station "Smile FM".

More information on "Mandela Day" and all the other programmes carried out by SIYP can be found on the website and on social channels, such as Facebook and Instagram.
