Bolivia – 6 Salesian Universities of Latin America come together in La Paz

(ANS - La Paz) – Representatives of the six Salesian Universities of Latin America are meeting in La Paz, in the La Paz campus, Bolivia, with the aim of continuing the initiatives contained in the Work Plan agreed upon by the delegates of the Salesian Institutions of Higher Education (IUS), as a result of the joint constructive work that has been carried out for several years.

As part of this joint constructive work which is carried out in Continental Meetings of the IUS, the coordination of the Common Program, which provides for combined work, is planned, oriented to the quality of the formation of university students. This year it is the turn of the Salesian University of Bolivia to be the host for this meeting.

The Salesian University of Bolivia is part of the Salesian Institutions of Higher Education - IUS, an academic network that has more than 94 institutions of Higher Education around the world, located in 22 countries in 5 continents of the world. The social, cultural and regulatory differences of the countries where they are present, means that the IUS offers considerable diversity.

Fr the occasion, Luisa Amelia Sibrián Escóbar, Director of the Academic Quality Department of the Universidad Don Bosco of El Salvador, was present. From the sister country of Ecuador, Universidad Politécnica Salesiana was represented by the Academic Vice-Rector, Ángela Cecilia Flores Ortíz and the Director of the Virtual Education Unit, Pablo Cornelio Farfán Pacheco. The Salesian University of Mexico was represented by the Executive Rector, Sara Guadalupe Sánchez Tapia. The Universidad Mesoamericana of Guatemala is represented by Onasiss Aron Rodas Azañon, from the Department of Institutional Quality, and Ricardo José Rodríguez García, Director of Pastoral Ministry. Finally, Rúbia Renata Marques, Academic Vice-Rector from the Universidad Católica Don Bosco of Brazil was also present.

The special guests, who arrived at the weekend, are in intensive work sessions, with a view to continuing in the construction, analysis and evaluation of the quality indicators of students' education, from the exchange of knowledge, product of experience and knowledge in the academic environment of the Latin American region. It is expected that the results of the meeting will make visible the progress made in the implementation of quality systems that already have an Educational and Formational Model and a Quality System or Model.

One of the fundamental commitments for the IUS Network is “to offer general guidelines that facilitate each university academic community in drawing up its own cultural-scientific-technological-educational and pastoral Salesian project” in the effort to motivate initiatives that contribute to the relationship between the IUS, always with a view to benefitting young people.
