RMG – “SHAPING TOMORROW”: the meaning pf the logo and motto

05 April 2024

(ANS – Rome) – The first business card of a communication project is its title or motto, and its graphic image, i.e. the logo. In the run-up to the Communication 2024 Conference, "Shaping Tomorrow", scheduled to take place from 1 to 7 August 2024 at the facilities of the Pontifical Salesian University (UPS) in Rome, the Congregation's Social Communication Sector today explains the meanings of these two elements.

The logo and the slogan “SHAPING TOMORROW” indicate a search for new solutions in social communication, considering changes and moving in a certain direction. The logo also refers to the worldwide logo of the Salesian Congregation.

Inside the red disk (red is also the official colour of the Congregation’s logo), a white sinusoidal line is drawn, which starts from the lower left of the circular field and travels along the red field until it reaches the opposite right side without touching it. The white line ends with an arrow pointing to “TOMORROW”.

The white letter “S” ending with an arrow symbolises the Salesian Congregation’s journey to now in social communication and the way forward in the direction indicated by the arrow. The white arrow symbolises the shaping of the future.

The letter “S” drawn by the arrow is also the initial letter of the word “SHAPING” and “SALESIANS”. The white sinusoid intersects and divides the red circle, which symbolises the space, a place for action and work in the field of social communication.

The slogan “SHAPING TOMORROW” indicates the desire to shape the future of social communication in the Salesian Family.

"We invite you to be involved in the Communication conference from 1 to 7 August 2024, in Rome" is the exhortation coming from the Sector for Social Communication.
