Slovakia – Bells ring for 20 minutes to welcome the Rector Major in Slovakia

(ANS – Bratislava) – The Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, on November 4th, 2016, commenced his visit of acquaintance with and animation of the Province of Mary Help of Christians in Slovakia. During his five days’ visit, he is accompanied as usual, by his secretary, Fr. Horacio Lopez.

The Rector Major was met at the airport by the Provincial of Slovakia, Fr. Jozef Ižold with his Vicar Fr. Ján Martiška and by the Provincial of Austria, Fr. Peter Obermüller.

The first to welcome the Rector Major in Slovakia was the community of the Provincial House in Bratislava Miletičova. The Salesians, together with lay employees, welcomed Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime in the small square facing the Parish Church of Mary Help of Christians. The church bells rang for 20 minutes. After receiving the cordial welcome from the Rector of the Community, Fr. František Kubovič, the Rector Major greeted all the confrères and the lay people present.

“A great peace radiates from his person; it was a wonderful moment,” was the witness of Kristína Zelná, a girl chosen to offer the Rector Major a bunch of flowers.

After lunch with the community, the programme of the Rector Major in Slovakia continued with the session of the Provincial Council and in the evening there was a visit and a prayer meeting in the native parish of the Servant of God Titus Zeman – Vajnory. As well as by the Rector Major, the figure of the Servant of God was presented also by the vice-postulator of the process, Fr. Jozef Slivoň.
