On the afternoon of Saturday, March 9th, Fr. Gildasio Mendes engaged with the novices on the subject of "How to engage with the digital world in an educational manner." The format of the discussion involved interactive dialogue with each member of the group: after a brief introduction, each novice was encouraged to pose a question regarding the digital realm. This approach facilitated a comprehensive exploration of various aspects related to the topic, fostering valuable discussions and exchanges.
Later that evening, commemorating the anniversary of the death of St. Dominic Savio, the novitiate community gathered in Mondonio. They recited the Rosary at the parish church, followed by a Eucharistic celebration in honor of the Saint, led by Fr. Gildasio Mendes.
On the morning of March 10th, following the Sunday Eucharist in the novitiate chapel, Fr. Mendes facilitated another meeting focusing on "How to educate and evangelize in the digital world." He elaborated on the dynamics of imagination, sensitivity, emotionality, and affectivity, drawing connections to the discussed topic.
Additionally, Fr. Gildasio Mendes presented a formative text titled "Don Bosco and the Digital Reality," which he authored and was published by Elledici. This text served as a further stimulus for formation. Each novice and member of the novitiate formation team received a copy of the publication from the Councillor for Social Communication, enhancing their understanding of the digital realm within the Salesian context.
