The day's proceedings commenced with a thought-provoking presentation by Fr Miguel Angel Garcia, the General Councilor for Youth Ministry, on the topic of "Sharing mission with Laity." He emphasized that the essence of sharing the Salesian mission lies in fostering a shared Salesian spirit and charism. Fr Miguel passionately conveyed the importance of recognizing the equal value and significance of lay people in the Salesian mission, rejecting any notion of a hierarchical distinction between vocations.
Following the presentation, participants split into their respective province groups to engage in discussions centered around the questions posed by Fr Miguel. These group sessions provided a valuable opportunity for provinces to evaluate the current state of affairs within their regions, assess the level of co-responsibility with lay individuals in carrying out the mission, identify challenges encountered, and explore effective strategies for overcoming them.
Amidst the day's activities, a group photo featuring the Rector Major and individual province group photos were captured, serving as memorable mementos of this significant gathering. Upon reconvening after the break, each province presented their group discussions, sharing insights and perspectives gained during the fruitful deliberations. Prior to the noon break, the Rector Major astutely summarized the morning's discussions, offering his invaluable observations and reflections.
The afternoon session commenced with an enlightening presentation by Fr Joan Lluis Playa, the delegate of the Rector Major for the Salesian Family. Fr Joan emphasized the Salesian Family as an apostolic movement passionately committed to carrying out the mission. He urged all participants to prioritize five interconnected elements: formation, mission sharing, youth ministry, animation, and accompaniment. Once again, provinces gathered in their groups to discuss three pivotal aspects of the Salesian Family within their respective regions: current works, new initiatives, and specific contributions to the office in Rome. Subsequently, these groups shared their feedback and reflections with the wider assembly.
As the day drew to a close, the Rector Major offered a concluding note, skillfully summarizing the day's discussions and sharing his observations. The second day of the EAO Team Visit in Vietnam showcased an atmosphere of attentiveness and enthusiasm among all participants, as they engaged in profound reflections on various topics pertaining to their provinces and the Salesian Mission.
The visit continues to foster a sense of unity and shared purpose, inspiring participants to work collaboratively, embrace co-responsibility, and passionately embody the Salesian charism in their respective regions. With each passing day, the EAO Team Visit in Vietnam leaves an indelible mark, empowering Salesians and lay individuals alike to further ignite the spirit of Don Bosco and advance the noble cause of the Salesian mission.
