At 6 pm, in a long entrance procession, the clergy went up to the sanctuary and the celebration began, presided over by the diocesan Pastor, Bishop Magnus Henrique. The rite of dedication began with the blessing of water and sprinkling. After the Liturgy of the Word, the litanies were sung and the relics of Saint John Bosco, Saint Dominic Savio and Blessed Benigna Cardoso were placed. The altar and the walls of the church were then anointed and incensed. Significantly, the lights around the church were finally lit.
After the distribution of Communion, the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament was inaugurated. Cardinal Á.F. Artime then took the floor and read the Declaration with which the Servant of God Father Cícero Romão Batista received the posthumous qualification of Salesian Cooperator: "I, Rector Major of the Salesian Congregation, Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, in my service and in the name of Don Bosco, Father of the Salesian Family, register among the Salesian Cooperators, in the capacity of Posthumous Cooperator, Father Cícero Romão Batista, ‘Padim Ciço’", proclaimed the Cardinal, just before a vigorous applause rose from the assembled faithful.
For his part, Fr Inácio Vieira, Provincial of BRE, thanked the Bishop of the Diocese of Crato, the Rector Major and the families of the first architects of the church for the work long dreamed of and finally realized - a dream of Father Cícero that has now become real.
"Today's event is important, but our mission is not yet over" said Fr Inácio Vieira. Yes, dear father, we will still have to finish the doors, some symbolic areas and the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament. And in the meantime, together with the local Church, united in the same spirit, we will continue to offer pilgrims sacramental services, the comfort of confessions, we will take care of the preserved green space, we will encourage meetings of communion and holiness."
The day ended with the unveiling of the souvenir plaque for this day, fireworks and a concert offered by the "Bom Jesus" Philharmonic, by Matriz de Camaragibe, from the Brazilian state of Alagoas.
