He was welcomed by Fr Marek Chrzan, the new Rector of the Salesian Community at Crocetta. The Rector Major then went into the playground of the oratory to greet the young people. Later in the Aula Magna he met with the community to present the state of the Congregation, shedding light on the more positive aspects, such as the increase in vocations especially in some parts of the world. He was greeted with the enthusiasm with which the successor of Don Bosco is always welcomed on his pastoral visits.
He also shared some concerns, including the risk of "clericalization" often singled out by Pope Francis as one of the most dangerous evils for the church today. According to the Rector Major, Salesians can also be tainted by "clericalism", forgetting that we are sent first of all to young people, and preferring money and a comfortable life. He also warned against the temptation to go it alone during the years of formation without seeking the help of a spiritual director and confessor.
The visit ended with Evening Prayer and a moment of informal sharing with the multicultural community of the Crocetta.
