The main aim of this event is to give visibility to the work and progress of students, who are the protagonists of their own formation. In this way, Basic Level Vocational Formation, a phase often neglected compared to the rest of the education present in our society, is promoted. It also furthers the great work of the teaching staff, who are always there to motivate these young people and help them achieve the best version of themselves as future professionals, giving them autonomy and confidence.
At the competition, the various groups taking part will display their projects in the school pavilion, where the rest of the students, educators, and other participants can interact with them and learn from their process. Innovative projects will be presented, such as an "awesome car" to curb climate change; a sustainable automatic greenhouse; or a panic button for vulnerable seniors.
Ultimately, this is a project competition that brings together the ingenuity of young vocational training students to improve society.
Several companies are sponsoring this competition, thus showing their support for the initiative and their commitment to young people.
Present in 36 schools and 25 VETs, the Salesian vocational formation of the Spain-Saint James the Greater (SSM) Salesian Province represents more than one-third of the 30,000 students in the Salesian educational centers of the Province. Nearly 2,500 educators are teaching in the different grades, in 111 basic level classes, 178 intermediate level classes, and 152 classes in the higher grades, applied to 16 branches of knowledge, in 9 Autonomous Communities.
This stage of study is a training itinerary aimed at students who have failed to successfully complete their studies in compulsory secondary education. Besides the Basic Vocational Qualification corresponding to the chosen address, students also obtain the Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) diploma, which guarantees them a greater likelihood of continuing their studies with an intermediate or high school diploma.
These studies thus represent a second educational opportunity for many young people.
