From the first hours of the day at the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians in Rumia, it was clear that something important and beautiful was being organized: the final preparations on the grounds, waiting for the guests to arrive, the cutting of cakes and the smell of coffee wafting throughout the oratory... All this was to get the celebration of the Pila Province Feast off to the best possible start, which this year was also linked to the significant anniversaries of the religious profession of the Sons of Don Bosco of PLN, the 30th anniversary of the existence of the Salesian sports organization "SALOS" in the Province, and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Rumia church as an archdiocesan shrine of the Virgin Mary Help of Christians.

At the opening, all those present symbolically gathered around the figure of Our Lady of Don Bosco, and then, during the solemn Eucharist presided over by the Provincial, Fr. Tadeusz Itrych SDB, they thanked God for the entire provincial community, a reality in which the charism of Don Bosco is still alive. In his homily, the Provincial drew attention to the qualities that each Salesian can still learn from St. Adalbert, the patron saint of PLN, and cited fortitude in faith and perseverance in the vocation received.

After the spiritual feast, the table tennis tournament organized to celebrate the anniversary of SALOS began. The opening game was played by the Provincial and the SALOS president of Szczecin, Fr. Tadeusz Balicki, who eventually emerged victorious after a hard-fought match.

At the same time, the other part of the joint celebration took place in the lower church, animated by Fr. Krzysztof Rudziński SDB, Provincial Vicar. In the beginning, Fr. Jarosław Wąsowicz SDB gave a very interesting talk on the history of the presence of the Salesians in Rumia and the worship of Mary Help of Christians in this location. Then the children of the kindergarten and school of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians enriched the morning with a valuable artistic performance. Afterward, the Provincial presented gifts to the Salesians celebrating their 50th (Fr. Bogusław Dyś, Fr. Jan Jermak, and Fr. Zbigniew Łepko) or 25th anniversary of religious profession this year (Fr. Dominik Chmielewski, Fr. Robert Dmochowski, Fr. Robert Kulczyński, Fr. Andrzej Mimier, Fr. Sebastian Połoński, Fr. Leszek Twardowski and Fr. Adam Żbikowski).

The morning ended with a theatrical performance, prepared by the Debrzno Oratory community; while in the afternoon there was still time to conclude the ping-pong tournament and present the Provincial's prizes to all those who support the Salesians in a special way in fulfilling their mission. The Salesian celebration culminated with the traditional raffle, animated by Fr. Krzysztof Tomeczkowski SDB.

"It was a beautiful day. And I think Don Bosco would have been proud that we were together to thank God and Mary as a family for all that we experience from them in the life of our provincial community," Wiktor Dworzak SDB, a young Salesian in formation present at the event, commented in conclusion.
