Reinhard Gesing was born in Südlohn, Germany, on August 13, 1962, served his novitiate in Jünkerath between 1982 and 1983, made his first profession on August 15, 1982, and his perpetual profession in the same work on August 15, 1989. He received his priestly ordination at Benediktbeuern on June 28, 1992.
A counselor at Velbert House from 1992 to 1995, he then served as Novice Master at Jünkerath for ten years, from 1995 to 2005; from that year he was sent to Benediktbeurn, where he served as Councilor (2006-2015) and later as Rector (2015-2017).
Fr. Gesing served as Provincial Councilor (1996-2005) and Delegate for Formation (2003-2005) in the North German Province, and later held these positions in the new German Province - the result of the unification of North Germany with South Germany - until 2017. Also to be added to his resume are his services as Delegate for the Salesian Family for 10 years, from 2005 to 2015, and as Provincial Vicar, from 2011 to 2017, when he was appointed Inspector of GER for the first time.
