(ANS - Madrid) - The Salesians of Spain through various channels of Social Networking have reached out to more than 56,000 through the 572 campaigns -as per their report on the activities carried out in 2021.

The National Commission for Salesian Social Network Platforms has presented the 2021 report, which includes all the work that the member entities and all the people who are part of them have done in favour of the most vulnerable people in society. This ministry has been characterized by newer and innovative ways of continuing the Salesian mission in the pandemic and post-pandemic context.

During 2021, as many as 56,164 people took part in one of the more than 600 projects that the different Salesian Social Networking Platforms developed in a total of 77 municipalities in the Iberian nation, thanks to the commitment of over 3,718 coordinators and more than 1,500 volunteers, with the collaboration of several sponsoring and supporting agencies.

"The year 2021 was also a year in which newer opportunities presented themselves, which, thanks to the initiatives of the Coordinating Technical Team, then converted into new projects and campaigns launched already in January 2022. Very significant of these campaigns is the Innovation Programme for the Prevention of Childhood Institutionalization (PIPII), which will run until 2024, and which brings a value of innovation, networking and prevention that makes us particularly proud. It is a project that is an ode to an emancipated childhood, which has a say in decisions that affect its life processes," said Paco Estellés, President of the State Coordination of Salesian Social Platforms, during the presentation of the publication.

Among the projects taken care of directly by the Social Network Coordination Committee are: a new edition of "Toma las Riendas" (Take the reins) an online publication, the continuation of the Assistance provided to Young People seeking international protection and legal orientation, the renewal of the Protection Programme for Children, Young People and Vulnerable Persons, and the publication of a qualitative research on Migrant Women "Tantas vidas en una vida" (Many lives in one life). In addition to these initiatives, we need to highlight also the Project of the Economic Wing of the State Coordination of Salesian Social Network Platforms - which addresses all requests for subsidies, and other economic assistance. In fact, this occupies a larger part of the efforts and working time of the animating team that Coordinates all the activities.

Salesian Social Network Platforms continue their work to remain a significant point of reference for social and educational initiatives and policies in Spain. This consolidates their area of work as a space for reflection, training and innovation of the Salesian response in the social sphere.
