The teachers of the UCDB participated in this first training. The program explored aspects of St. John Bosco's teaching relating to the education of children and young people, one of the hallmarks of the Congregation founded by the Saint of Youth.
The current chancellor of the UCDB, Provincial of the "St Alfonso Maria de' Liguori" Province of Brazil-Campo Grande (BCG), Fr Ricardo Carlos, was Rector of the Catholic University on the occasion of the start of the specialization course, in August 2019.
"The initiative is part of one of the Roadmap projects, which is our strategic plan prepared every five years and which has been implemented with the continuing education of teachers in mind - in this case with an emphasis on the charismatic characteristic of UCDB. Don Bosco's values are always current and greatly enrich the teaching of our university. Young people have changed, but the values are perennial and the preventive system is always current. What you can ask yourself, then, is: how can I translate these teachings into my lessons?" said Fr Carlos on that occasion.
For his part, the Councilor for Social Communication of the Salesians, Fr Gildasio Mendes, commented: "There is no specialization like this anywhere else in the world. Here is the originality of putting the Preventive System and modern sciences in dialogue. There are no limits between science and the preventive system and it is a pride of the UCDB, an innovation, this courage in approaching this topic."
