Italy – Exhibition "Francis de Sales 400" (1622-2022). On Saturday the inauguration at the Casa Don Bosco House Museum

(ANS - Turin) - On the occasion of the fourth centenary of the death of Saint Francis de Sales, the Don Bosco House Museum presents the exhibition "Francesco di Sales 400", an exhibition that shall illustrate the life, faith and spirituality of the Genevan bishop. The exhibition will be inaugurated next Saturday, January 15th, at 10:30 (UTC + 1), at the Teatro Grande of Valdocco. The event will be chaired by the Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, who will be joined by Fr Leonardo Mancini, Provincial of the Salesians of Piedmont, Aosta Valley and Lithuania (ICP).

The inauguration, which will be streamed live in 5 languages ​​on the Facebook pages of ANS and the Museum, will be attended by: Fr Michele Molinar, Provincial Vicar and Delegate for the Salesian Family of ICP; Fr Cristian Besso, Dean of the Faculty of Theology of the Don Bosco International Institute of Turin-Crocetta; Dr. Stefania De Vita, Director of the Don Bosco House Museum; and Dr. Enrica Pagella, Director of the Royal Museums of Turin.

Actor Roberto Accornero will read two passages from the "Filotea" by St Francis de Sales and vocal and instrumental pieces from the Renaissance period will be performed.

The song "Il cuore parla al cuore, or the heart speaks to the heart" will also be presented, the hymn written and set to music by Fr Maurizio Palazzo, responsible for the musical activities of the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in Turin, on the occasion of the presentation of the Strenna 2022.

The entire musical animation will be handled by the "Sal.es" choir, made up of young choristers and musicians gathered by the Salesian Fr Palazzo.

The guidelines of the exhibition will aim to educate the visitor to get to know the saint, to a Salesian reading of his life, and to deepen the seventeenth-century "Salesian climate".

There will be three main thematic/exhibition sectors of the exhibition:

-      the biographical elements of the Saint;

-      the "Salesian" iconography of the Saint in the original oratory;

-      and the elements of Salesian spirituality and pedagogy.

It will also be possible to admire a portrait of Saint Francis de Sales from 1618, the liturgical parade, known as "of St Francis de Sales" (ante 1622), the liturgical parade of Saint Francis de Sales with embroidery made by Saint Jeanne-Françoise Frémiot de Chantal (1610-1622), a holographic letter of 1608, and again, prints, books and very particular objects, such as a Piedmontese bone medallion of 1613, a contemporary reminder of the exposition of the Shroud of 1613.

The collaborations with the Superintendence of Archeology, Fine Arts and Landscape, the Monastery of the Visitation in Annecy, the Monastery of the Visitation in Moncalieri, the Sanctuary of the Consolata in Turin and the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Piedmont have been precious.

The "Francesco di Sales 400" exhibition will be open to the public until 15 January 2023 (Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 to 12:30; Wednesday and Friday from 14:30 to 17:30; Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 to 12:30 and from 14:30 to 17:30; closed on Mondays).
