The App provides daily various resources that can serve as support for one’s life of faith and inspiration. "ANIMA" wants to collaborate to offer a response to the spiritual needs of young people and become a good companion of their daily lives. On the way to school, University, Work or at home -to pray, meditate, sing etc., -everything is now just a click away, because with this application you can make every moment a privileged place of encounter with God.
The App - downloadable from the AppStore and Google Play Store - was developed by the Salesians of Croatia, but the contents are the result of the excellent contribution of more than 30 collaborators, including many Salesians, some bishops, laity and members of other religious congregations as well, who have accepted the challenge of sharing the experience of their faith. They have supported the development of the App with spiritual thoughts, knowledge, technical skills and in a lived missionary spirit.
Compared to other similar resources already available, ANIMA has the advantage of grouping in a single application as many as 13 options for one’s spiritual life. The readings of the daily liturgy with a brief commentary; the breviary; texts for meditation; vocational themes; Q & A section to clear faith intricacies; a pointer section leading up to WYD 2023; homilies; quotes and motivational phrases about holiness; Christian comments on current events; songs with meaningful messages; radio stations; an extensive prayer book; and also links to events broadcast live (for moments of prayer and adoration, Mass, rosary, seminars, interviews, concerts, etc.)
"ANIMA" does not claim to be the best, nor a unique complete solution. On the contrary, it is a tool that will be constantly updated with inputs from its users, taking in suggestions and feedback and subsequently adapting to their needs and expectations.
The name "ANIMA" derives from the priestly motto of St. JohnBosco, the founder of the Salesian congregation, "Dami hi animas, coetera tolle" (Gen 14: 21), which indicates the passion of the Saint of Youth for the salvation of souls. At the same time, it also refers to the italian verb "animare", to give life, to give encouragement. This application therefore aims to animate the spiritual life of Christians and to serve as a support tool for evangelization.
"We entrust the service of this application to Our Lady, whom Benedict XVI invited to invoke as 'Star of the New Evangelization'", say the Salesians of the Portugal Province.
