In response to this appeal, the General Councilor for Youth Ministry, Fr Miguel Angel García Morcuende, invited all the Provinces to participate in the "International Congress of Salesian missions and Social Services for Youth at High Risk" which will take place in Turin -Valdocco from 28 September to 2 October 2022.
The meeting shall represent a point of convergence to enhance the organic culture of social works, reflecting on the evangelizing proposals and networking in this important environment of Salesian Educational and Pastoral Activity.
The Salesian Youth Ministry Sector, in line with the Social Doctrine of the Church and with the orientations of the last two General Chapters of the Congregation bolstered by the recommendations of World Council of Social Works of 2019, has embarked on a path of reflection and involvement of the various units of the Congregation's “Missions and Social Services for Young people at Risk”. This, thus seeks to strengthen the charismatic identity of the pastoral action carried out in this particular field.
The celebration of the International Congress of Salesian Missions and Social Services will mark an important stage in this option indicated by the Rector Major to the whole Congregation, and the meeting in Valdocco - where all the works of Don Bosco was born - will give a new impulse to continue to implement the Preventive System in every context where the Salesian mission takes place among the poorest and most needy young people.
