Also present at the ceremony were Cardinal Gregorio Rosa Chávez, auxiliary bishop of San Salvador, El Salvador; the Salesian Msgr. Elías Bolaños, SDB, bishop of Zacaecoluca, El Salvador; and other bishops, priests, deacons, and religious who enriched the celebration with their presence. Likewise, the presence of various Salesian priests and religious filled the ceremony with fraternal gestures and closeness.
In a message sent for the occasion, Pope Francis highlighted the characteristics of a Salesian of Don Bosco bishop: “We have thought of you, venerable brother, who in your pastoral work as a father of young people and in the heart of a teacher, you have shown yourself endowed with heart and mind and you seemed suitable to feed this flock.”
During the celebration, Fr Sandro Aguilar was charged with requesting ordination to the Nuncio and as the last words of the ceremony, he welcomed the first Bishop of the new Diocese of Gracias, Msgr. Guillén Soto. Dozens of faithful showed their devotion and joy and applauded when Msgr. Pinter delivered to Msgr. Guillén the episcopal insignia: the ring, the cross, the miter, and the crosier.
The celebration was broadcast live and shared by various Honduran Catholic digital media to reach as many faithful as possible.
