RMG – Appointment of the Provincials of Peru and Poland-Cracow

(ANS – Rome) – The works of the summer plenary session of the General Council are in full progress: the Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, with the consent of his Council, appointed Fr. Manuel Eduardo Cayo as Superior of the “Santa Rosa da Lima” Province of Peru (PER); and Fr. Adam Parszywka as Superior of the Province of “St. Hyacinth” of Poland Cracow (PLS). Both have been appointed for the six-year period 2017-2023.

Fr. Cayo was born on May 31st, 1966 in General Roca, Argentina; he did his first profession on January 31st, 1986, in what was then the Province of Bahía, Argentina (ABB), and pronounced his perpetual vows in Barrufaldi, Argentina, on November 16th, 1991. He was ordained a priest on June 3rd, 1995, in his native town.

After the ordination, he continued his studies at the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome from 2001 to 2004. On his return to Argentina, he was sent to La Piedad House in Bahía Blanca, where in 2007 he became Rector. From 2005 to 2010 he was member of the Provincial Council, in the capacity of Councillor, Provincial Delegate (for Youth Ministry, Education, Evangelization and Catechesis and for Salesian Youth Movement) and Vicar.

In January 2010 he was appointed Superior of the new Province of North Argentina and, at the end of his mandate, in June 2016, he became Rector and Novice Master in Alta Gracia.

Fr. Parszywka was born on July 5th, 1970, in Myslenice, Poland; he pronounced his first vows in Kopiec on August 22nd, 1993, and the perpetual ones in Cracow on September 26th, 1999. He was ordained a priest in Cracow, on May 24th, 2002.

He was councillor in the community of Swietochlowice and, from 2005 to date, Councillor, Vicar and finally Director of the Centre of Youth Ministry of Cracow.

From 2004 he is the Delegate of his Province for the Missions and since 2013 he is also Provincial Councillor.
