In Spain there are already more than 95,000 people infected with Covid-19, 10% of them are health workers, according to government data. The sad thing is that every day the number of deaths increases, which today amounts to 8,464. Between March 7 and 25, almost seven million masks were distributed throughout Spain, but these are not enough.
"The lack of masks, the testimonies of the health workers ... and, above all, the desire to help in what is most needed right now, is what made us launch this campaign," explains Fr José Antonio San Martín, Head of "Misiones Salesianas".
Normally the Mission Office of Madrid is an organization that works looking to the South of the world and to young people, but in extraordinary times, such as the current ones, it has decided to help the closest community, the Spanish one, which collaborates with countries so much poorer. “We are an organization that is on the side of people, especially young people, the most vulnerable children. And, on this occasion, we want the Spanish population to feel our closeness too,” continues the Salesian.
The Mission Office will not act alone: the Wottoline company collaborates in this campaign to ensure that the masks reach their destination.
“We must help our heroes to continue fighting against the coronavirus. Let them know they're not alone,” they say from the Mission Office.
For all those who want to collaborate, they can do so via the website www.misionessalesianas.org
Misiones Salesianas, together with all those who accompany them, can change the future of millions of people. On this occasion, helping healthcare professionals to continue saving lives. Tomorrow, God willing, the Mission Office will be able to return to help others who are more vulnerable, as it has done to date.
