Burundi - New Shrine dedicated to Mary Help of Christians
Bujumbura, Burundi - March 2020 - The Africa Great Lakes Salesian Vice Province (AGL) is completing the construction of a Shrine dedicated to Mary Help of Christians in the city of Bujumbura, which will be inaugurated on Sunday 19 April 2020. The project was made possible thanks to the generosity of thousands of Italian benefactors coordinated by the Salesian Fr Ferdinando Colombo, in support of Ercole Lucchini, of the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, and of the Superior of the Vice Province of AGL, Fr Pierre-Célestin Ngoboka. It will be a place of prayer and the center of devotion to Mary Help of Christians in the region, as well as a place of reconciliation and unity in this region of Africa that has experienced many wars and political unrest.
