South Africa - 30 young people reflect on Extraordinary Missionary Month
Johannesburg, South Africa - October 2019 - From 11 to 13 October, thirty young people from the Salesian presences of Eswatini, Lesotho, Johannesburg and Cape Town gathered at the "Bosco" youth center to reflect on the Extraordinary Missionary Month with the theme: "Baptized and Sent". Fr Vincent Hoang, Delegate for the Missions of the Southern Africa Vice Province (AFM), offered his contribution on the theme "New Evangelization and First Proclamation". Fr Lingoane Tlaile, Delegate for Youth Ministry in the AFM Vice Province, presented "Volunteering in the Salesian Mission". Salesian Brother Clarence Watts, Delegate for Social Communication of the AFM Vice Province, offered an explanation of this year's Salesian Mission Day. All the presentations were followed by group discussions on the implications for the Salesian mission in the AFM Vice Province. Young people were encouraged to be missionaries among their friends, at school, at work, in their communities, but above all to continue to develop a personal relationship with Christ, to keep the missionary fire alive and to share it with others.
