Chile - Laura Vicuña: Patroness of Youth
Santiago, Chile - 7 September 2019 - Again this year, hundreds of people packed the Shrine of Laura Vicuña in Renca to take part in the procession that takes place every year to celebrate the beatification of the child who offered her life for the conversion of her mother. The faithful, who came from various cities from across the country, met in the Hermitage of Laura Vicuña to start the journey with flags and songs along the "Colorado de Renca" hill. A special moment was experienced at the entrance of the Sanctuary with the blessing of a white cross, a symbol of reconstruction, made with the remains of beams burned by the fire of "Hogar Amor, Paz and Alegría", on February 15th. The procession ended with the Eucharist presided by the auxiliary bishop of Santiago, Msgr. Alberto Lorenzelli, SDB, concelebrated by Salesians, and by Fr Gabriel Hormazabal, parish priest of Renca.
