Mongolia – The Bible Copier Movement
Darkhan, Mongolia - March 2019 - Last year, Fr Simon Lee, SDB, director of the Salesian house in Darkhan, launched the "Bible Copier Movement" initiative at the "Maria Auxilium" parish, whereby people commit to copying the entire Bible by hand to then display it in the church museum where locals can peruse it. On March 16, 2019, on the occasion of the Lenten retreat, Fr Lee officially launched the initiative by distributing around 2,500 books, notebooks and pens to those present to be distributed in other parishes and institutions throughout the prefecture of Mongolia. This initiative is open to all people, Christian and non-Christian, and aims to bring people closer to God and to be able to live what they read and copy.
