Fr Joseph addressed and encouraged the participants to commit themselves to the field of social communication to be present to and accompany today's youth. The followingt talk by Fr Peter Chinh, the SC Delegate in the Vietnam Province, was the main theme of the meeting: “The Presence and the Accompaniment of Salesians with today's youth through media tools”.
Starting from Don Bosco's involvement in working for the youth in his time, Fr Peter focused on the presence and accompaniment of the Salesians with today youth through media tools. This talk led to 2 group discussions: (1) How to use media tools at the local communities or Salesian presences (morning), (2) How to have SC Coordinators of the Salesian Family work more closely together (afternoon). All participants were divided into 5 groups to discuss these two things.
On the morning of 30 November, 2018, the SDB Coordinators for the SC continued the meeting to discuss 3 things: (1) SC plans in each region and each community, (2) how to set up local SC group including the local youth and lay people, (3) Training SDB coordinators in skills for working with the SC members of local SC groups.
For the first time, all SC Coordinators in the Salesian Family attended the SC annual meeting this year. The aim was to establish an SC network and ways for networking in the Salesian Family in Vietnam. Also, with the support of the Province and SC Commission, 11 SC Coordinators from the North discussed and set up their own SC plan, preparing them for founding a new delegation by the end of 2019.
