Italy - ACSSA Presidency Annual Meeting
Rome, Italy - April 2017 - The annual session of the Presidency of the Association of Salesian Historians (ACSSA) took place on 29 April at the Salesian Generalate. The participants included Fr F. Motto, President, Fr S. Zimniak, Secretary, Fr. J. Torres and Sister G. Loparco for Europe, Fr A. Fresia and Sister M. Imaculada da Silva for America, Sister M. Roher and Fr G. Kivungila for Africa, and Fr. N. Impelido for East Asia. In the course of their work the national ACSSA sections of Italy, Spain and Poland gave a report on the work done, especially in the archives and in historiography. The statutes of the sections of Argentina and Brazil were approved; and note was taken of the founding of the India section. Sixteen new members were welcomed, which means that ACSSA now has close to two hundred members. Fr Zimniak presented the budget and gave an update of the ISS / ACSSA site. Particularly important was the planning of the International Convention scheduled for 2021 with the provisional title: "Incredible and innovative Salesian figures in the twentieth century." The precise date and venue will be fixed in 2019, after the Continental Seminars. The Rector Major paid an unexpected visit, congratulated all present on the work ACSSA is doing and renewed his full support for the planned formation and research activities.
