Papua New Guinea – Empowering Young Voices Through Writing and Publishing
Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea – March 2025 – Young people from Catholic institutions, parishes, and Radio Maria took part in the second session of the Media Education Seminar series, focusing on writing and publishing. The event, held on March 29 at La Salle Technical College in Hohola, provided participants with skills in article writing, news bulletin preparation, and print media production.
Fr. Ambrose Pereira, SDB, Salesian Delegate for Social Communication, emphasized the power of storytelling: “Stories touch both the mind and the heart. Everything is connected through storytelling.” He encouraged participants to express themselves creatively through writing. Sessions covered news writing (5W[who/what/when/where/why]+1H [how] method), inspirational stories, newspaper/magazine structure, and school bulletin boards, interspersed with interactive games.
Led by Fr. Pereira and a team of volunteers, the seminar empowered participants to create meaningful content to inspire others.
