Democratic Republic of Congo – Women’s Day Conference: “For All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, and Empowerment”

Kinshasa, D.R. Congo – March 2025 – On March 8, International Women's Rights Day, the Planning and Development Office of the Salesian Vice-Province of Africa Congo Congo (ACC) and Don Bosco Tech organized a conference titled “For All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, and Empowerment.” The event took place in the Espéré Hall of the Saint Thomas Aquinas Post-Novitiate in Kinshasa Masina.

Fifty women and girls attended the conference, attentively listening to various speakers discuss issues of inclusion, women’s empowerment, and the rights of persons with disabilities, as well as legislative reforms in the DRC. The discussions highlighted progress made and ongoing challenges in achieving gender equality and accessibility for people with disabilities.

The event emphasized the crucial role of female leadership and necessary measures to strengthen public policies. Several recommendations emerged, including improving access to economic and educational opportunities for women and people with disabilities. The conference concluded with a collective commitment to promoting equality and inclusion in Congolese society, followed by a shared meal to celebrate unity and solidarity.
