Italy – "Salesians for social" and Juventus together to give hope to young people
Turin, Italy – December 2024 – A special afternoon of solidarity and sharing was held on 20 December at the Salesian San Paolo Oratory in Turin, where Weston McKennie, Juventus midfielder, was the main charcter of a charitable initiative promoted by the "Salesians for social" network. The event, which involved the young people who are part of the Saint Louis and Saint Paul works was a moment of joy and hope for many young lives. McKennie, known not only for his football talent but also for his social commitment through his McKennie's Magical Youth Mission Foundation, has supported the educational and reception activities of the Salesians, bringing gifts for all the young people present. The concrete gesture testified to the closeness to the needs of those who live in difficult contexts and confirm the value of initiatives that combine sport, solidarity and inclusion. Valentina Bellis, national vice-president of Salesians for social, commented, "This day represents an extraordinary example of how bridges of solidarity can be built through concrete gestures." The initiative is part of a broader context of interventions and projects that Salesians for social work carry out throughout Italy to support and welcome thousands of children in difficulty.
