05 November 2024

Malaga, Spain – November 2024 – The 3rd Regional Meeting of Salesian Cooperators (ASC) from Spain and Portugal was held from 1 to 3 November at the Diocesan House in Malaga, with the motto "Sarmientos 24: Family of God in Salesian style". Before the start of the event, the victims of the events that took place in these days in Valencia were particularly remembered. Involving almost 300 participants including ASC, candidates, delegates from the seven provinces that the Association has in the Region and more than 80 local centres, the Meeting was divided into several presentations, round tables, testimonies and cultural trips. The objective was to reflect on how to build a Church with a Salesian style, with the awareness that the charism of Don Bosco must be shared with all ecclesial realities. There were talks by Patxi Fano and Fr Pascual Chávez, Rector Major Emeritus, who helped the participants to understand the project of a synodal and missionary Church for the 21st century proposed by Pope Francis. Then followed some testimonies and two round tables with the world representatives of the Association and two ASC deacons, the other with a group of young ASC and aspirants. Within the Assembly, the Board of Directors was approved and the Regional Secretariat was renewed: World Councilor, Borja Perez; Regional Delegate, Isabel Perez; Regional Delegate, Joaquín Torres. The meeting was attended by the two Salesian Provincials of Spain, Fr Fernando García (SSM) and Fr Fernando Miranda (SMX); the FMA Provincial of Spain, Sister Charo Ten, the Visiting Councillor, Sister Marta Liliana Riccioli, and five members of the ASC World Council: Antonio Boccia, World Coordinator; Sister Lucrecia Uribe, World Delegate, Salesian Brother Duc Nam Nguyen, ASC World Delegate and Past Pupils; Raul Fernández, World Administrator.
