Great Britain – Maureen Devereux, a member of the Order of the British Empire for education services and humanitarian support for African children
Windsor, Great Britain – October 2024 – On 16 October, the investiture ceremony for the honours awarded by King Charles III for his birthday took place in Windsor Castle. These are different orders of awards and recognitions awarded by virtue of their merits to citizens of the United Kingdom and the other fourteen realms of the Commonwealth. The ceremony was presided over by the William, Prince of Wales. Among the personalities who received the awards was Ms Maureen Devereux, Mother of Sean, a Salesian past pupil and Salesian Cooperator, teacher and volunteer murdered in Kismayo, Somalia, in January 1993 at the age of 28, while working on development projects for UNICEF. Ms Maureen Devereux received the honour of Member of the Order of the British Empire for her education services and humanitarian support for children in Africa through her work with the "Sean Devereux Children's fund".
