Nigeria – Fr Miguel Angel García Morcuende presides over the meeting of the Youth Ministry Delegates of CIVAM

Lagos, Nigeria – October 2024 – The meeting of Youth Ministry (YM) Delegates for the Conference of Salesian Provinces and Vice-Provinces of Africa-Madagascar (CIVAM) began on 18 October in Iju, Lagos. The five-day meeting is being led by Fr Miguel Angel García Morcuende, General Councillor for Youth Ministry, and is attended by 15 YM Delegates for the Africa-Madagascar Region. Together with them there are Fr Rafael Bejarano, Head of Works and Social Services, Migrants and Volunteers in the Youth Ministry Sector, with eight representatives of the Region, all under the warm hospitality of Fr Jorge Crisafulli, Superior of the Africa Nigeria Niger Province (ANN) and Coordinator of social works for Africa and Madagascar. Fr Miguel Angel García Morcuende described the objective of the CIVAM meeting as an opportunity to create teamwork and provide ongoing formation for YM Delegates. "It is a process of animation, of creating teamwork among YM Delegates as a whole, as well as a time for their ongoing formation," he explained. Fr Bejarano stressed the importance of social works in the African region, stressing their goal of "creating a network for our social works, highlighting their relevance in the congregation". Fr Crisafulli added that CIVAM Youth Ministry will strengthen structures and promote collaboration between Delegates through better networking.
