Brazil – Bishop Sérgio Krzywy presides over the dedication of the church and the consecration of the altar in the Salesian parish of Araçatuba
Araçatuba, Brazil – October 2024 – As part of the year of celebrations for the 20 years since the creation of the parish of San Francesco e Santa Chiara, the Mass of dedication of the church and consecration of the altar was celebrated on Friday, 4 October. The celebration was presided over by Bishop Sergio Krzywy, Bishop of Araçatuba, in the presence of members of the local clergy and Salesian priests from the communities in Araçatuba and Lins, as well as Fr Ricardo Carlos, Superior of the Province of Campo Grande (BCG) and Fr Paulo Vendrame, SDB, Rector of the Salesian community in Araçatuba. The parish priest, Fr Delmiro Vieira Júnior, SDB, welcomed those present, before the bishop officiated at the solemn rite of dedication. The first Eucharistic celebration on the newly consecrated altar was then celebrated, marking the beginning of the liturgical use of this space. At the end of the Mass, a commemorative plaque was unveiled and Bishop Krzywy thanked the community for the organisation and participation.
