Democratic Republic of the Congo – Award of academic degrees to first students of the Don Bosco University Lubumbashi
Lubumbashi, DR Congo – September 2024 – Saturday 14 September, the Don Bosco University Lubumbashi, the first Salesian university in the Province of Central Africa (AFC), organised its first academic degree award ceremony, during which certificates were awarded to 153 finalists from the undergraduate and Master's degree courses. The ceremony was presided over by the AFC Vice-Provincial, Fr Tryphon Kalimira, representing the Provincial, Fr Guillermo Basañes. Creativity and courage to dream were the recommendations left by Fr Kalimira to recent graduates. Fr Jean Luc Vande Kerkhove, first Rector of the University, congratulated the young people, thanked his colleagues and recalled the challenges and strengths of the institute. The day, with which the academic year ended, ended in a typically Salesian atmosphere of celebration and joy.
