Ciutadella, Spain – September 2024 – The Salesian work in Ciutadella celebrates its 125th anniversary this year and, on the occasion of this anniversary, the Provincial Council of the Mary Help of Christians Province Spain (SMX) has gone to the island of Menorca to carry out its first working session of the new school year there and thus pay tribute to the memory of the first community that arrived in Ciutadella on 26 October 1899 – after more than 14 years of efforts and activities carried out by Fr Federico Pareja, and with the firm support of Bishop Castellote. Currently, the Salesian presence with its Community, the School, Shrine, the Salesian Family, Social Projects, Youth Centre and the Sports Club, intends to continue its educative and pastoral project to offer an educational quality focused on human and Christian values. The members of the SMX Provincial Council, among the various activities carried out on the occasion of the visit, went to the Town Hall where they were received by the Mayor of the city, and celebrated Mass with the Salesian Family in the shrine on the afternoon of Wednesday 11th. In addition, they also had the opportunity to visit the city's cathedral, as well as Calós' work.
