Oświęcim, Poland – August 2024 – A meeting of the Rectors of the Salesian presences in the PLS Province took place on 17 August, on the day of Saint Hyacinth, patron of the Salesian Province of Krakow (PLS). It followed the Provincial Council, held the day before. The Eucharistic celebration in the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians was presided over by Fr Marcin Kaznowski, Superior of the Province of Krakow. This annual celebration was also an opportunity to honour Salesians celebrating anniversaries of profession or priestly ordination. After the Eucharistic celebration, the "Mir" award of the Province was conferred. This time it was received by Mrs. Janina Błażej, Salesian Cooperator from Rzeszów. Also planned for the Salesian Rectors and the members of the Provincial Council, were a visit to the Auschwitz Museum-concentration camp and a moment of prayer for the beatification of the Salesian martyrs, servants of God, killed in this place. All these events took place in a beautiful artistic, cultural and family setting: every Friday in July and August the "Boskie Granie" cycle of concerts took place; from 15 to 17 August the 16th "Jackowe Granie" Festival (Music of San Hyacinth) took place with concerts by the groups "Pogwizdani", "Małe TGD" and "Albo i Nie". Then the 12th "Biegać jest Bosko" took place; games and races for children; CityGame, aimed at families and organised in collaboration with the "Zadyszka" Club, supplementary dances etc... 16 August was a special day not only for the Salesians, but for the entire city community, as it was marked by the celebration of the feast of the Patron Saint of the City of Oświęcim, Saint John Bosco, on the 209th anniversary of his birth.
