Spain – Two thousand young athletes participate in the Sports Days organised by the Salesians
Spain – June 2024 – About two thousand young athletes participated, last weekend, in the Sports Days organised by the Salesians in the Spanish cities of La Almunia and Arévalo. For many children, adolescents and young adults, sport is a fun activity, a moment of exercise, meeting with friends, in an environment of creativity and self-fulfillment, all important factors for the balance of their personality. In La Almunia, on Saturday 1 June, more than a thousand participants filled the Salesian facilities to compete in different sports such as basketball, indoor football, volleyball and futsal. In the evening, the awards ceremony and closing ceremony took place. In Arévalo too there were more than a thousand young athletes, engaged in sports such as football, handball, volleyball, and basketball. Fr Xabier Camino, Delegate for Youth Ministry in the SSM Province, was also present, opening the day with the traditional "Good morning" and at the end he delivered the trophies to the winning teams. The Provincial Coordinator for Educational Sport, Mario Fernández, also participated, congratulating the organisers, Iban Navidad and Esteban Ramos.
