Philippines – SYM Youth come together to discuss Climate Change
Cebu, Philippines – April 2024 – The Youth Centre of the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in Cebu hosted a monthly formation course for young people to discuss climate change. The course, held on 19 April under the theme: "The dangers of climate change: Fighting the heat", was attended by about 150 young people from the Salesian Youth Movement. Ralph Gerard Padilla, speaker at the course, focused on the impact that global warming has on health and what actions should be taken, taking as an example the phenomenon of El Niño in Southeast Asia. The members of the Friends of Zatti Club then formed small groups, to teach those present how to apply the notions of first aid in case of heat-related problems. Similar initiatives aim to train young people in awareness with practical skills to manage a changing planet and the consequences of an increase in temperatures.
