Rwashi, R.D. of Congo October 2023 - The young members of the Missionary Circles of Lubumbashi and surrounding areas, in the Salesian Province of Central Africa (AFC), gathered on Sunday 22nd October, at the youth centre of the "St Dominic Savio" community, in the municipality of Ruashi. It was to officially inaugurate the activities of the academic year and to joyfully celebrate the 97th World Missionary Day, on the theme: "Walking along with Hearts Aflame (cf. Lk 24:13-35)". The event was presided over by Fr Donatien Mambepa (Delegate for the Missions of the AFC Province), Fr Serge Ahadi (local delegate), some Salesians and Daughters of Mary Help of Christians. Sr Michaëlle, FMA, the day's speaker, elaborated on Pope Francis' message for the day, inviting all those present to live the Gospel daily by doing good works. After the conference, Fr Piero Gavioli, SDB, an Italian missionary who has been active in Congo for decades, presided the Mass, after which various recreational activities took place. The long day ended with a Salesian 'goodnight' by Fr Pierre Maibwe.
