Johannesburg, South Africa - October 2023 - The Regional Formation Commission of Africa-Madagascar began its annual meeting on 19 October. The meeting is being held at the Don Bosco Youth Centre in Randvaart, under the direction of Fr Guillermo Basañes, Provincial of Central Africa (AFC) & the delegate for Formation at the Regional level. The meeting was also attended by Fr Jose Kuttianimattathil and Salesian Brother Raymond Callo, from the Formation Sector of the Salesian Headquarters, representing Fr Ivo Coelho, the General Councillor for Formation. The reduced participation in this meeting was mainly due to the lack of visas for some of the delegations, which are carrying out their activities under their animator Fr Augustine Sellam. This year, the commission has chosen to study the theme: "The Salesian Missionary Vocation", and had invited the Regional Delegate for Missionary Animation, Fr Privat Fouda, from the Equatorial Tropical Africa (ATE) Vice Province. The participants also benefited from the presence and expertise of Fr Václav Klement, the Superior of the vice province of South Africa (AFM).
