Japan - Priestly ordination of Salesian James Chihiro Morito
Tokyo, Japan - September 2023 - On 2 September, the Catholic Church of Himonya, in Tokyo, hosted the priestly ordination of Salesian James Chihiro Morito. The ordaining prelate was Bishop Mario Michiaki Yamanouchi, SDB, Bishop of Saitama and former Superior of the Salesian Province of Japan. The new priest lived for a long time in Africa, particularly in South Sudan, where he worked on behalf of the poorest children. After being ordained as a deacon in Italy, he has now been ordained a priest in his home country. The ceremony was attended not only by Fr Jacob Hideaki Hamaguchi, Superior of the Salesian Province of Japan, but also by Fr Paul Antimi, Provincial Delegate for Sudan and South Sudan, Fr Pulikkal Joseph, Rector of the Juba work, and Sister Bosco Shimosaki, of the Caritas Sisters of Jesus, a missionary in South Sudan.
