D.R. Congo – Perpetual profession of a Salesian Brother and 13 clerical Salesians candidates

Kansebula, R.D. Congo – July 2023 – On Saturday 8 July, 14 Salesians of Don Bosco - one Salesian brother and thirteen clerical candidates - made their perpetual profession during a solemn Mass celebrated by Fr Guillermo Basañes, Provincial of Central Africa (AFC). The newly professed include one from the Africa Great Lakes Vice-Province (AGL), two from the Madagascar Vice-Province (MDG), and 11 from the AFC Province. Before their perpetual profession, the Salesians went through a mini-retreat led by missionary Fr Piero Gavioli. In addition, under the guidance of Fr Jonas Yav, Provincial Delegate for Salesian Youth Ministry, many young people who had come to participate in the celebration organised a prayer vigil for Friday, 7 July. Of these 14 Salesians, the clerical candidates are now continuing their training at the Saint François de Sales theological studentate in Lubumbashi, while Salesian Brother Mbumb Guelord is currently academic secretary and Professor of Philosophy at the Saint Jean Bosco Institute in Kansebula after having obtained his licence at the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome.
