D.R. Congo - 17th Pilgrimage in honor of Mary Help of Christians in Lubumbashi
Lubumbashi, D.R. of the Congo - May 2023 - Thousands of members of the Salesian Family gathered on May 21 to give life to the XVIIth pilgrimage in honor of Mary Help of Christians, traveling about ten kilometers separating the city from the large district called "Golf," where the Marian Don Bosco City is located, an area of more than 12 hectares acquired for the good cause. In fact, it is since the pastoral year 2005-2006, during the mandate of the second Congolese Provincial, in the person of Fr. Joa Tshibangu, that this beautiful initiative in honor of the Help of Christians began, in the dust and among the trees because this side of the city of Lubumbashi was still uninhabited. This year, despite the large movement of vehicles and large trucks, the tradition was still respected and the members of the Salesian Family practically paralyzed the road traffic for more than three hours, simply because there were so many of them for this pilgrimage, together with the youth of the oratory, students, the SYM core group, sympathizers and many other people who came for the first time. At the end of the pilgrimage, Fr. Tryphon Kalimira, Vicar of the Central Africa Province (AFC), presided over the Sunday Mass, which was concelebrated by several Salesians.
