Australia - Holy Week in parish of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque
Brunswick, Australia - April 2023 - Holy Week in the parish of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in Brunswick - animated by the Salesians - was attended by many faithful, gathered to celebrate the foundation of the Catholic faith: the Resurrection of Christ. The Maundy Thursday celebration gathered the whole parish and was led by Fr. Anthony Nguyen, pastor, assisted by Fr. Jan Walenciej, SDB. Fr. Phillip Gleeson, Salesian Community Director, led the Good Friday service, together with Fr. Walenciej, and Fr. John Kick later celebrated the service for the Vietnamese community. Fr. Gleeson was also the main celebrant of the Easter Vigil Mass in English, followed by the Eucharistic celebration in Vietnamese, led by Fr. Anthony Nguyen, pastor, and Fr. John Kick, SDB. The Vietnamese group, composed of adults and children, also celebrated Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday, and oversaw the celebration of the Stations of the Cross in a very reflective and solemn manner. All liturgical celebrations were accompanied by the lively, energetic and joyful singing of two choirs (Vietnamese and English). Many faithful were actively engaged in the liturgy with singing, readings and other service responsibilities.
