Lawaan, Philippines - January 2023 - The community of the "Don Bosco Formation Center - Lawaan" (DBFC in English) celebrated St. John Bosco with a series of activities, which started as early as January 24, with Solemn Vespers in the "St. Francis de Sales" Chapel of the Sacred Heart Novitiate. Then on January 28, the DBFC organized a youth vigil attended by many young people from different schools, organizations, and youth centers. The following day, following the theme of Strenna 2023: "AS THE YEAST IN TODAY'S HUMAN FAMILY. The Lay Dimension of the Family of Don Bosco," the Aspirants took part in a solidarity competition, whose challenges included cleaning, supporting local merchants, and entertaining the elderly at a nursing home. On Jan. 30, the DBFC Pilgrims' Hall hosted the show "Giya" (Guide): a fictional story through which they reflected on faith, conversion, and the mission to become leaven in society through simple acts of charity. On Monday, Jan. 31, on the Feast of Don Bosco, Salesians, aspirants, pre-novices, Salesian Cooperators and members of different religious communities participated in the solemn procession, followed by Mass presided over by the Superior of the FIS Province, Fr. Fidel Orendain. Finally, also at the Pilgrims' Hall, a celebration was held, enlivened by dancing and singing and introduced by the welcome address of Fr. Adrian Mendoza, DBFC Director.
