India – Blessed a memorial in honor of the Servant of God Oreste Marengo
Tura, India - December 2022 - Msgr. Andrew Raksam Marak, Bishop of Tura, blessed and inaugurated a memorial in honor of the Servant of God Oreste Marengo, at the "Bosco Mount" Aspirantate, belonging to the Rongkhon Parish, in the municipality of Tura. Archbishop Marak, who presided over the Mass, highlighted the life of dedication and the "pastoral heart" of Archbishop Marengo, the first bishop of Dibrugarh, in North-East India. Fr Januarius S. Sangma, Provincial of the Guwahati Province (ING), took part in the inauguration, inviting all those present to pray for vocations and to request the intercession of the Servant of God Oreste Marengo, so that he "helps us to receive the blessings of God". The Provincial Economer, some confreres from the Garo Hills region, aspirants of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians and the parishioners of Rongkhon also took part in the event. In fact, many wanted to pay homage to this exemplary missionary, in the year of the centenary of the arrival of the Salesian missionaries in Northeast India.
